The weather has been great for the last month. Bright sunny days in the hi 70’s to the low 80’s with nights cooling off to the mid 50’s. We have had very gentle breezes in the afternoons. It doesn’t get much better than this! The higher altitude lakes have been getting into the 30’s at night.
The creek is running pretty high now. South Lake is full so SCE cannot hold back the outflow and it all goes into the creek. It is very fishable and most anglers are doing very well. Nightcrawlers and Salmon Eggs seem to be best. Some pretty good action with Panther Martins and small gold Kastmasters.
The lake is full now and just ready to spill. It is a beautiful sight when the lake is spilling over the rocks. Fishing seems to have slowed a bit, even though most people are reporting seeing lots of fish. They are just finicky on what they are eating. Powerbait and Nightcrawlers are catching fish from shore or back behind the island. We have heard of some success with trolling a Nightcrawler very very slowly. Some have even been dragging their anchor a foot off the stern just to slow down a little more. Be sure to come up to see the spill this next week.
Fishing has been very good at Sabrina. Nightcrawler drifting by the rocks has been very productive. Lots of fish being caught with Powerbait, some with Salmon Eggs. Red gold Thomas Buoyants have also been bringing in limits. The lake is full and beautiful right now, definitely a need to come up and see. Now is the time when camera buffs can get back at the late Spring and take lots of scenic shots in between catching dinner.
Fishing has been pretty good at North Lake. A few float tubers have been reporting good results with olive or black Wooly Buggers. From shore with Powerbait and Worms. Like the others the scenery is phenomenal.
Still doing very well with stockers from DFG using Powerbait. Several groups have reported good results with Trout Traps and a bobber. Great place to take kids!
Lots of hikers now because the trails are all open and the lakes are great. With flies the angling has been super using green bodied mosquitos or small streamers. Nightcrawlers also doing very well with light tackle.
The mosquitos are finally slowing down here at the Lodge, but we are hearing horror stories the higher you get.
